Fucoidan is one of the multiple saccharides that is a common component of kelp and other different kinds of sea vegetables. It is found in marine algae (brown algae) such as Mozuku (Nemacystus decipiens) and Mekabu (the pleated section of wakame, or Undaria pinnatifida, near the root), and Kombu (Laminaria japonica). The "slimy" constituent of sea vegetable is a rich source of Fucoidan, which is a general term referring to a group of polysaccharides containing sulfated Fucose.
Recent studies have found that "polysaccharides," a class of dietary fiber contained in brown algae, have many health benefits for human. Fucoidan's health benefits first drew the attention of researchers in 1996, when the apoptosis-inducing action of this material was reported at "The 55th General Conference of The Japanese Cancer Association."
Fucoidan, a natural ingredient contained in the Okinawa sea vegetable Mozuku and Mekabu, has been clinically shown to increase Natural killer cell activity as well as improve activation of Macrophage, T- cells and B-cells.* In many of these studies, the researchers concluded that the disappearance or reduction of bad cells were due to the effect of Fucoidan to increase immunity and attack bad cells directly (an action called APOPTOSIS).*
The secret of Okinawa longevity
THE PROCESS OF MAKING FUCOIDAN: Fucoidan made in Okinawa with high purity (Fucoidan: 80 - 89.9% of purity)
The processing method of Fucoidan includes the following stages: Divers dive into the oceans rich water floors and search for brown sea weed. They dig up the rich brown algae and take it to the surface after which it is then loaded and transported to the processing plant. The raw seaweeds materials are charged -> Extraction of organic acid -> Cyclone separation -> Filtration -> Concentration/Sterilization -> Spray Drying -> Packaging.
Extreme amounts of time, perfection, precision and specially technology are used to extract and make the finished product. It is with that that many millions of people around the world are taking Fucoidan products for it rich content and healthy benefits.
The raw Fucoidan material that we sell is produced by QP Corporation (Fine Chemical department), which is the largest manufacturer of mayonnaise in Japan, and also one of the largest and the most reliable food makers in Japan. QP Corporation also maintains a world-class quality assurance system with definite responsibility for processing. QP Corporation secures an environmentally clean area of the Japanese ocean to gather brown seaweed of high quality, and uses the "root" part of brown algae, which is more adhesive than other parts and contains a lot of sulfated polysaccharide. This root part of brown algae is also currently very popular and revered in the Japanese food market for its good taste and high nutrition. Before starting the extraction process, QP Corporation hangs out large amounts of the root portions of brown algae on the seashore, under strong rays of sunlight. These brown algae then generate a lot of "spores," which contain rich minerals and other nutritious ingredients, and finally become ripe and dried out. In the extraction process of Fucoidan, QP Corporation focuses on preserving rich minerals and other digestible nutritious ingredients, such as Fucoxianthin, one of the natural Charotenoid prepared from brown algae possessing an anti-oxidation effect, in the Fucoidan. QP Corporation also has a special method of using only water and no alcohol in the extraction process, because alcohol detaches rich minerals and other nutritious ingredients from the Fucoidan. This special method also retains Fucoidan's molecule structure in its natural form.
